A controversial Facebook page encouraging users to submit lewd photos of young girls has been shut down.Complaints from around the world led to the "(Controversial Humour) 12 year old slut memes" page being removed.The page featured photos of girls in sexualised poses along with screenshots of conversations seemingly taken from girls' Facebook walls.
Users were also able to comment on content submitted to the site.

The page, which was established in August and listed two Australian men as administrators, attracted more than 200,000 'likes' before it was closed down.An online petition on change.org demanded the page be taken down on the grounds that it encouraged violence towards minors and constituted hate speech. The petition collected almost 5000 signatures.

A page with the same name on microblogging platform Tumblr was also removed last month.
The page's administrators had previously resisted pressure to take down the site.
Earlier this month they posted a mock message saying they would close the group before declaring: "As long as there are sluts, we will put them in their place. Keep the submissions coming guys. We're not going anywhere".
